Tropical sanctuary in Hove
Our clients had a blank canvas when we arrived on site - a dream for any landscaper! The garden was a sun-trap but it was very overlooked by neighbours, so they wanted to create a tropical, social garden in the heart of Hove.
The garden design required us to create two limestone terraces - one close to the house for dining and one at the back of the garden for relaxing & lounging. The hard landscaping at the rear of the garden gave us the opportunity to create custom bullnose step pieces on the raised terrace, and build a bespoke timber pergola which would help to make the garden feel more private. We installed a curved gravel path linking the two terraces, and created extra deep borders to maximise the soft landscaping.
The garden was filled with tropical planting, and a beautiful cedar hot tub from Riviera Hot Tubs was nestled between the planting and the raised terrace. Clever positioning of trees and the custom pergola ensured that the hot tub felt private.
The major challenge with this garden was access - everything had to come in and out over the boundary wall and into a side passage.
